HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR NEW
YORKIE PUPPY
PLease puppy proof your home, Puppies are very curous and can
get into trouble.
Keep your puppy on hard puppy kibbles. Hard kibbles is best for
your puppies teeth, Yorkies are prone to teeth problems, and the
kibbles help keep tarter under control. If you choose to change
the brand of puppy food, please do it gradually so he does not
get diarrhea.
Keep him in a crate whenever he is not being played with or
watched, this is for his own protection.
He likes attention, playing with him is fun
Vaccines should be repeated every 3-4 weeks untill about 16
weeks. Please vaccinate on your own veterinarian's advice. when at
the vets office, please hold your pupy in your lap or keep him in
his carrier. DO NOT let your puppy on the floor, There have been
sick dogs there,
Your puppy is not fully protected until he has had all of his
puppy shots. PLease do not take him to public places untill he has
all of his puppy shots.
Leptospirosis vaccine has been known to cause problems in small
pups and is not recommended.
Worming should be done on a regular basis: every few weeks until
they are 16 weeks of age, and then every few months untill he is a
year old. Pups are very susceptible to worms.
Food and water should be availoable at all times.
If your puppy stops eating for any reason, watch for
hypoglycemia, The puppy may be limp, eyes glazed over,
staggered walk, give the pup Nutrical. or Karo syrup, and get him
to the vets immediately.
Give your puppy plenty of naps during the day, do not over
stimulate him, he is young and takes lots of naps. As he grows he
will sleep less.
I recommend a harness: you can pick your puppy up out of danger
without hurting him.
never permit your puppy to lick your shoes, Parvo can be carried on
shoes.
It is very important to start grooming your yorkie puppy now.
Keep the sesions short and fun.
